Some Advantages of E-Cigar

Electronic cigarettes, also called e-cigarettes or e-cigs, were introduced in China in 2005. They took North America by storm in 2007 and people can >buy electronic cigarette in Canada. Since then, they have become popular around the world.

According to the Propel Centre for Population Health Impact, 17.3 percent of Canadians — about 4.9 million people — are smokers. The daily smokers average 14.4 cigarettes per day. Cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and snuff are also popular, especially among males.

Nearly two-thirds of Canadian smokers say they want to kick the habit. Reducing the number of cigarettes they smoke each day is their most common strategy. Some people turn to nicotine replacement therapy, and others try electronic smoking.

Not all electronic cigarettes users want to quit smoking, however. Some of them just want a better alternative to tobacco cigarettes. Vaping, as electronic smoking is often called, is growing in popularity among Canadian adults and youth.

What Are Electronic Cigarettes?

E-cigarettes are electronic units with battery-powered vaporizers that simulate tobacco smoking. They produce a fine mist that resembles smoke. A heating element called an atomizer vaporizes a liquid solution called e-juice.

E-liquids contain a base of propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin combined with nicotine and flavorings. There are benefits and risks to vaping, but some evidence suggests that e-cigs are safer than regular cigarettes.

What Are the Advantages of E-Cigarettes?

Their lack of tobacco is the main advantage of e-cigarettes. More research is needed to establish their health benefits, but everyone knows that tobacco smoke is harmful. Second-hand smoke causes health problems for non-smokers.

Traditional cigarettes contain harmful chemicals that increase the risk of lung cancer, throat cancer, pneumonia, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and other serious conditions. E-cigarettes do not contain these chemicals. Some people report feeling better physically after switching from tobacco to e-cigarettes.

According to the Canada Safety Council, cigarettes are fire hazards as well as health hazards. Smoking-related fires cause one out of every five fire fatalities. Since electronic smokers do not need an open flame to light up, e-cigs are safer than tobacco cigarettes.

The e-cigarette smell is another major benefit. Tobacco smoke clings to everything it contacts: hair, clothes, walls, drapes, carpets, cars and more. E-cig smells are faint or non-existent.

Finally, electronic smoking is less expensive than cigarettes. In the past 30 years, tobacco prices have increased dramatically due to production costs, inflation and taxes. E-cigarettes are not subject to the same taxation. Although there are costs involved with electronic units and batteries, prices will likely decline as e-cig technology enters the mainstream.
